God interrupted my commute home one day in 2004 with, “I want my own television show.” His voice instantly transformed my otherwise boring drive. However, my response was not an exuberant “Send me Lord!” It sounded more like, “Have fun with that!”
God faithfully continued, “I don’t want it to be like that show The View, I want it called God’s View.” That got my attention, and His show was inscribed on my heart.
Fast forward to 2012 when the call came into our office from the producers of Lisa Ling’s show, “Our America.” They asked us to appear on their segment titled: “Fighting Satan.” The show contrasted the different methods of deliverance. We represented the professional counseling side.
The day they arrived in August of 2013, I caught myself staring at Lisa Ling sitting cross-legged on the floor of our office eating lunch. I thought this is it, God; you are getting your show. After all, Lisa Ling was once a co-host on “The View.” However, in early 2015 I heard God repeat, “I want my own show called God’s View.”
I asked God in prayer how a Christian counselor was supposed to put together a television show. I had nothing to go on but faith. I have learned that God delights in taking you out of your comfort zone and pressing way past your pay grade! I know now, however, that He never overwhelms you. He just asks you to take one small step at a time so he can provide all you need.
I had lots of questions to ask before I was ready to take any steps. Foremost on my mind was who was crazy enough to be my co-hosts. I looked to my right and my left, and it seemed apparent. I took one small step and set up lunch dates with Kathleen Peck and Susan Ward. I kept thinking, all they have to say is “NO,” and then I can realize this idea is nuts. I was shocked when they both immediately said, “Yes.” At that moment, I knew I was in for the ride of my life.
All I had on my resume was a volunteer directing job on the local Christian Television Network nine years earlier. I had no experience working on YouTube with three co-hosts and weekly guests. God loves it when you have nothing to lean on but Him.
As I prayed, the people showed up in my office. The first to come was a client with a long history of work in television. She offered to design our set. Then we got a call from a movie producer wanting us to help him on a project, so he helped with our graphics.
My most significant prayer was for a videographer. In my ignorance, I thought I just needed someone to hold a camera and then upload it to YouTube. I am glad I did not know the technical ability necessary for this endeavor; it would have left me cowering under the covers of my bed! Thankfully God already knew. I just had to stumble across him like everyone else.
I began asking for references and got one name texted to me. I did not know him, so I ignored the text and went back to praying. In prayer, I got the impression that I should ask the young man who made music videos for one of our local worship teams. Before I reached out to him, I got a phone call from a local pastor. He asked me, “Do you have anyone yet to film your show?” I told him that was my big prayer request of the day. I mentioned the one referral.
He asked, “Who is the referral that was texted to you?” I told him it was Luigi Barros (who you will meet later in this book). He laughed and said, “That is the name I was calling to give you, and just so you know he is the videographer for that worship team you’ve been thinking about.”
The journey was getting real! I called Luigi that afternoon, and within five minutes he was part of the growing team. On film day, he came with three cameras, computers, lights, microphones, and helpers. He spent hours editing and uploading every show. “God’s View Today” premiered in April of 2016 and all 23 shows are now on YouTube for you to watch.
The purpose of this book and our show is to boldly present God’s multi-faceted wisdom and perspective based on cutting-edge teachings from the Word of God and powerful testimonies of those who have been delivered and set free. We touch on subjects not often addressed in the church in the areas of deliverance, healing, and sanctification and we give you strategies to defeat the enemy in every chapter.
It is time to adjust your lens to see and be liberated from demonic strongholds that plague your life.
