Fear and rejection are common entry points for demonic oppression, but what keeps their legal right to stay and torment is often hidden. God continually intervenes as we minister deliverance to bring revelation to us and what follows is one such encounter.
A while back, I had the opportunity to pray for a woman in her fifties during one of our group deliverance seminars. As I called out spirits under the stronghold grouping of spirits of fear, I sensed the Holy Spirit telling me to call out a “little girl spirit of hiding”. I responded to that (by the way, that name was not on my hard copy list we use as a guideline) even though I had never been taught anything about hiding little girl spirits.
I commanded, in the name of Jesus, that every little girl spirit of hiding had to go. Suddenly, this woman’s face transformed into the likeness of a pouting three year old. Her bottom lip came out and the spirit said, in a very childlike voice, “I don’t want to go. I like it here. I have been here a long time!”
The Open Door for Hiding Spirits is Often Trauma
This woman and I were both surprised at this unique manifestation but she kept focused and freely agreed that she wanted this spirit to release her. With some gentle yet persistent commands, that spirit did leave. This spirit, like many others, typically leaves the same way it came in: deep, powerful weeping. I saw the joy and maturity quickly return to her face. This hiding spirit had gained entrance to her life through traumatic events in her childhood in the areas of punishment and abuse.
At times like those, and many others in ministry, I am very grateful for the gentle guiding of the Holy Spirit. He has a beautiful way of exposing some of the most unusual demonic agendas in people’s lives. In our ministry, we have prayed for thousands of people and are still learning new tactics of the demonic realm.
We have found that personality spirits that manifest as little girls or little boys of hiding are very common and often times overlooked. We believe these spirits enter as the traumatized child dissociates, seeks to hide or lets someone else (a spirit) take the abuse. Hence, the legal right for a nest of demons to stay is often not addressed.
What are possible indicators of a personality spirit of hiding operating in a person’s life? They will often cause a person to continually rely on the methods they used as a child to survive. As previously mentioned, they are often linked to significant rejection, extensive, systematic abuse and/or severe trauma. They can completely ruin communication in married couples when one partner shuts down and hides from perceived fear of punishment.
During teaching 3 (session 5 of our five step deliverance process) which happens typically a week or so after the deliverance session, I often ask my clients to confirm in what areas they have sensed the most freedom. Many will name that little girl spirit of hiding.
If you’ve had repeated counseling, ministry or even deliverance and your relationships are still being sabotaged, it may be this spirit that is involved. If you have experienced freedom from this spirit, or recognize it potentially as a hindrance in your own life, we’d love to hear from you!
