Ungodly soul ties result when we allow someone to get us doing things we do not want to do. When you gossip about someone, you have forged a negative bonding with that person, and those to whom you share?
Ungodly soul ties present an enormous open door for demonic torment in our lives. We have numerous articles and videos that focus on that topic, and I encourage you to search our site for that phrase.
Loose lips sink ships, and there are dangerous for our soul man also.
Proverbs 18:7 A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
A snare to the soul? How does that work?
I really like this definition of the word “gossip”:
“casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.”
Participants create a clique that has one link in common: they either share or listen to words that typically judge or word curse others. These two actions also give legal rights for demonic torment on all parties.
Soul Bonds Affect All Involved
However, there is another sinister dynamic: we have linked ourselves unilaterally to the one we gossip about, and they may have no knowledge of it! Think about it: whom are the most frequent targets for gossip?
They are the leaders, influencers and significant people and the gossiper has usually taken up an offense against them. He or she does not do the biblically right things (pray or confront the person in love) rather they present their “case” to an interested audience. The trap is set.
We have allowed that person, the one we gossip about, to have an ungodly influence on us, and they are likely not aware at all of what is unfolding.
Those in the gossip group open the door for torment in their own lives because when they share or listen, they have created a common bond. They are unwitting members of a conspiracy.
Whenever there is a conspiracy, harm results. In the case of gossip, the gossiper, the target and those who participate are affected. The gossip is a snare the gossiper’s soul uses to control others.
Participants are under ungodly control (their soul is ensnared) because everyone understands that they need to be careful of what they say or do to this person, knowing that a similar lot will befall them if they fall out of favor.
The Bible gives us a sobering reminder of the consequences of gossiping:
Psalm 101:5: Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, him I will destroy; No one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure.
What is the remedy?
The best advice is never to get involved in gossip, do not entertain it. If you have initiated and partaken, do the following:
- Stop. Confront the gossiper with the truth of God’s word and be prepared to break the relationship with them if they do not repent and stop. You are being wise, not unloving or unmerciful.
- Repent of your own sin and receive the Father’s forgiveness.
- Declare,
“I break and sever every ungodly soul tie with (name of the one gossiped about) and (names of fellow gossipers), and I break the power of every demonic spirit that has tormented me because of my sin. I am forgiven, and you devils have no hold over me, in Jesus name”. Keep your distance from fellow gossipers to avoid entrapment once again.”
- Ask the Lord to bless and prosper all those involved, and to reveal Himself to them in new and fresh ways.
Move on! If there are other open doors and you have difficulty getting freedom over guilt, fear, depression, anger or more, you would likely benefit from going through deliverance.
