In our fifth deliverance ministry session with clients (and in the CD teaching handed out at the end of the “Released to Soar” Deliverance Seminars) we talk about how to stay free and stay on the narrow road that leads to life (Matt 7:13-14). It is important to be prepared, and be able to discern, when the demonic spirits return to the house. Unfortunately, they bring along seven other more wicked spirits so the stakes are high!
We touch on fifteen steps to stay free and winning the battle of the mind, taking thoughts captive is an important aspect of that (2 Cor 10:5) of that. We cannot stop thoughts from coming in but we can stop them from staying. I am convinced that one of the realities that will help us win the battle of the mind is truly “knowing” who we are in Christ. That knowing can only come from revelation; it is so much more than head knowledge.
How can we gain that? Apart from a “Damascus” road type of encounter like Paul had, I am convinced that that truth can become manifest in our life if we begin to stand on it and speak it out consistently and persistently. We are transformed by renewing our minds and as we purpose to believe God’s word about us, it takes hold in our soul!
Staying Free As A Child of God
The world, and sadly many in the church of Jesus, tend to still live be feelings or emotions and indeed we can easily slip into a focus on experiencing emotional encounters with God. There’s nothing wrong with “feeling” God’s presence and it is wonderful when it happens but that cannot be our focus. The biblical reality is that believers are already sons and daughters of the king and that we have been given everything we need for life (2 Pet 1:3). Jesus came so that we might have the abundant life now (John 10:10)!.
After deliverance, when the spirits and the tormenting thoughts are gone, it is easier to take negative or demonic thoughts captive and replace them with godly thoughts in obedience to Christ. The thoughts will likely come as the demonic spirits return to the house but our clients and attendees confirm the reality that they are no longer tormenting because the spirits behind them have been kicked out!
We can begin to gain victory in the mind by believing and affirming what the bible says about us. There are many things God says we are (co-heirs, ambassadors and more) but I believe one of the greatest revelations we can gain is the sonship we now enjoy! Try choosing to believe it, standing on it and speaking it out; and I know that you will be blessed and begin to see more victory in your life!
