Can the generational curses of our forefathers continue to cause torment in our lives? In recent blogs I have shared what I have seen as common spiritual oppression based on ethnicity. Important disclaimer: these are based upon my observations and experiences in deliverance ministry only. This post takes a closer look at the German heritage.
This article is part of a series on ethnic generational curses generally geared towards women. Other groups looked at include Latinas and African-American
Spirits that seem to repeat generationally down the German bloodline are anger, judgment, stubbornness, and isolation. By faith when I pray for those with this heritage I first break any wartime curses that may have opened the door for these spirits to enter.
Many of my clients describe their fathers as strict, uncaring, and legalistic and their mothers as fearful and quiet. Hiding spirits are evident as children hid in their bedrooms to escape the anger or punishment of a broken rule. Often I hear, “Our house was run like the military”.
I frequently hear childhoods described as one of exile and isolation. One client shared that he felt so rejected by his family that he eventually just abandoned all of them. He had become judgmental, critical, and angry. He felt that he had to fight for whatever he had in life, but it everything eventually slipped away. He became a warrior, but not in a godly way.
His deliverance was amazing. During our session, I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to break the ungodly soul tie with the owner of his gym. I actually laughed out loud with that request but as I broke that soul tie he flew back in his chair. He then proceeded to tell me that was a clear word from God because he had actually physically beaten up a gym owner once! His anger had cost him his marriage, his business, and almost his life.
With German women, depending upon the temperament, and with how many states in Germany there are with the different mindsets, this anger can also manifest verbally as “I’m hurt”. The lack of love or affection from their parents can produce rejection that rejects first in order to avoid the pain. This hiding is out of fear of failure. There is an inability to really know how to love or be loved because it was not shown in their home. Often you will see divorce, depression, and isolation.
The judgment of the Jewish nation during WWI truly opened the door to generational curses of judgment in the German bloodlines. In this generation it looks different, but there are still antichrist spirits of intellectual supremacy in operation. These show up in striving, perfection, competition, and performance issues at work. Its cause’s spirits of unrest that don’t allow their minds to shut off at night.
The generational curses of our forefathers opened the door to familiar spirits. They may manifest the same way as the prior generation, but they are still in operation with the same resulting torment. I recently heard my pastor say that the enemy doesn’t change the sin, he just repackages it to look different!
If any of this resonates with you, we would love to hear from you.Jesus died to become a curse for us therefore we have authority to declare these generational curses broken and call out the tormenting spirits they allowed into the family. The demonic kingdom deals in deception; don’t let them keep hiding in your family tree!
