Our ministry utilizes a straightforward and simple approach to deliverance that we believe is supported by Scripture and adheres to the mandate Jesus set forth in Mark 16; 15-18. Yet we find that some still do not believe the whole bible and that deliverance is for today.
I had a client like that recently (let’s call him John). He came in with his wife and admitted he benefited from what he had learned, but he was still hesitant. I asked him, “Do you believe in the whole Bible or just parts of it?” John quickly replied he believed it was all truth. Then I asked him about Jesus’ mission commandment in Mark 16. I read verses 15 and 16 to him.
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Then I paused, and asked him, “Do you believe in these scriptures?” John said, “Of course I do, that is the main focus of our ministry, to see people saved and baptized.” I said, “Awesome! What about verses 17 & 18?”
17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
I pointed out to John that all the scriptures were in red. Jesus said, these signs will follow those that believe in my name. He didn’t say, they “used to” or they “did” he said they “will”. One wag referred to Jesus as having the original “PhD” ministry. He came to preach, heal and deliver. Deliverance was one-third of his ministry and it is at the heart of ours. We have no hesitancy about preaching the gospel, many churches actively pray for the sick to be healed. Why does the stream slow to a trickle when it comes to deliverance?
God’s children should be walking with the fruits of the Holy Spirit operational in their lives. Do you have love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, meekness, faith, long suffering, endurance and self-control? Or are you battling with Fear, depression, anger, lust, perversions or addictions? If you have tried other therapies or medications without lasting success, then deliverance ministry may be helpful.
Deliverance was a big part of the answer for John. His joyful smile today is evidence of that and he became a “believer” of the value of deliverance ministry.
