Do you see behaviors in your child that concern and frighten you?
Have your efforts of discipline resulted in defeat?
Do you see patterns evolving that are common in your family tree?
Do the doctors want to prescribe medications for something that you sense is a spiritual torment?
Your child may be oppressed by a demon!
In part one of this series on Children’s Deliverance; I want to lay the scriptural foundation that will reveal even children can be oppressed by demons. In Part two, I will give you key strategy on how to discern if it is a demon or your child’s will that is manifesting.
Scripture makes it quite clear that Satan hates our children. They are the next generation of warriors that God is training for war.
A primary focus of the demonic realm, as Jesus taught in John 10:10, is to kill, steal and destroy. Demons of fear, anger, rejection, abandonment, and rebellion are released early in a child’s life to crush their trust in a loving God.
Demons are Real and Torment is Not Limited By Age
It sounds unfair, but demons do oppress children.
The Bible is full of stories depicting children suffering from demons.
In Luke 9:37-42 we see the disciples battling unsuccessfully with a spirit of seizures that had been tormenting a boy from a very young age. Jesus stepped in and rebuked the demon, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
In Matthew 15:22-28 the Canaanite woman brought her young daughter, who was demon possessed, to Jesus and he set her free.
In both cases, Jesus honored the discernment and persistent faith of the parents and set their children free!
Many deliverance ministries shy away from taking children through deliverance. My response to critics remains the same; Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you anyone who doesn’t have their kind of faith will ever get into the Kingdom of God.” (Luke 18:16-17).
During deliverance sessions for children I have seen:
- A 4-year-old child delivered from spirits of murder and violence that gained entry through an ungodly soul tie.
- A 6-year-old delivered from hiding spirits that had him trapped in the alternate reality of the video game “Mind Craft”.
- A young boy delivered from a spirit of the fear of death that came over him at his uncle’s funeral.
- And many more set free from rebellion, anger, abandonment, and rejection.
There are several excellent resources available that will help you discern what you are dealing with in your children and guide you in prayer. I recommend parents begin first by reading; “Let My Children Go” by Rebecca Greenwood and “Children’s Deliverance” by Frank and Ida Mae Hammond.
We also offer an online Children’s Deliverance Ministry Training Course that will give you all the resources we have on praying deliverance for children.
We do not look for demons behind every problem in a person’s life. Often what a parents might consider as demons at work is really a discipline issue for a strong-willed child. Discernment is essential. I will help you understand the difference in part II of this series!
Read part II.
