Our nation, and indeed the entire world, is reeling amid a significant social, medical, and economic crisis. The term “social distance” has sprung into our vocabulary and will be forever reminder of this time.
While earthly systems and paradigms are being shaken, we hope you are enduring this trial immersed in the peace of God, taking thoughts captive and letting the Lord work things together for good in your life (Romans 8:28).
I’m not going to offer up any advice, information, or updates on COVID-19; you are surely inundated and those topics are not in our educational wheelhouse.
I suggest, however, that you exercise wisdom and limit the duration and sources of your daily news intake. Some provide useful information and warnings without fanning the flames of fear that want to overwhelm us. Media’s twenty-hour news cycle demands has resulted in many damaging filler pieces.
Apply this caution to secular and Christian sources. I’ve heard some “prophetic” and “spiritual” analysis that makes my skin crawl, let alone from some of the so-called “real” news outlets.
Covid-19 is a Spiritual Attack
We are experiencing a spiritual attack that is manifesting in the natural realm. ALL sickness and disease come from the demonic realm; Jesus is the author of healing and deliverance and must be your source.
We know that many workers have been furloughed or released, and small business owners have a lower margin for viability. Real pain, coupled with stress from forced family proximity, can uncover emotional pain and darkness that may have been dormant.
If that describes your current situation, we pray that His peace and wisdom will be upon you in this season. Jesus is your provider, and these times provide an opportunity for all of us to lean into Him and let Him indeed be our Lord, not just our Savior.
If you are struggling in new areas, or unresolved issues are manifesting again, you may need help that is beyond the scope of your pastor and trusted friends.
“Social Distancing” Term Will Endure
Many counseling and deliverance ministries provide help online. In the past, the service has been embraced as an attractive option. It is now a present day necessity – the best implementation of “social distance counseling“. Fortunately, at Above & Beyond, we have been active in this realm for many years and now more than half of our client base comes in worldwide through the internet.
The set up is very simple; all you need as a minimum is a smartphone. Tablets, laptops and desktops work well also.
We feel blessed to be able to operate this way and believe that many more will need pastoral counseling services in the days, weeks, and months ahead. I’ve been reading on the NCCA (National Christian Counselors Association) Facebook page that other counselors are using this time to add online services in the days ahead. Hallelujah – good news coming out of a bad situation!
If that is you, you can wait until your life stabilizes some, or you can start today! Make an appointment.
