We just finished our first “Released to Soar” Deliverance Seminar of 2012 and if the freedom gained during this seminar is an indication of what is promised for this year, I say “Hallelujah”!
Our seminar room was at capacity and we ministered to hungry and hurting sheep who had been lied to, stolen from, and limited in fulfilling their God-given call by an unseen enemy!
The deliverance process that we use makes setting the “captives free” a relatively simple and straightforward endeavor once the person has received the teaching and done their homework. In order to stay free, however, each individual must have a strong determination to renew their mind, by resisting demonic thoughts that stir up old mindsets.
There are at least four keys to begin to changing these old mindsets:
- Realize that after deliverance you really are free and it’s not all about you! The Hebrew word “pathach”, means to open wide, loosen, set free, release, untie, unshackle or liberate. Shackles are released because Gods plan for your life has little to do with you and everything to do with the harvest of souls waiting for the sons and daughters of the King! Translated, God wants you free more than you do, because you have work to do in his kingdom.
- Just because the demons have been cast out, understand that the thoughts will still come. We live here, and so do one-third of a countless number of demonic angels! When the spirits return to the house, they are able to stir up memories and put thoughts in your mind. The longer you fight those lying thoughts with the truth found in Gods word, “It is written…” the faster he will flee.
- Think about what you are thinking about. Begin to journal your thoughts. Write down the incoming thought, the desire it produced, and the plan of action you are meditating on along with its consequences. Then write down what God says about that thought, what his desire for you is, and an action plan from his word, based on love. Write down scriptures that apply to your thoughts that remove the old perception, and replace it with Gods perspective. Finally, last but not least
- Spend time in God’s Word. If you don’t know the truth, it’s very difficult for you to discern the lie. God speaks to us through the Bible. His word brings light and keeps us from leaning on our own understanding. The facts may be the facts, but the truth is always found in God’s word.
In Chuck Pierce’s book, “Possessing Your Inheritance“, he illustrates entrenchment in old mindsets by referring to a dog that had been chained to a post for many years. This dog would stretch to the end of its rope and walk in circles around the post, day after day. As the years passed, the dog found himself in a deep rut.
One day, the dog’s master freed him from his chain. It was thought that the dog would race off into the surrounding areas to explore that which he had only been allowed to view from his restrained position. Strangely, the dog did not run or play or explore, even when his master tried to entice him away. The dog instead opted to walk in the old rut that he had created.
Don’t be that dog! Sometimes these ruts are entrenched mindsets that limit you to an old path that God wants you free from. I believe 2012 is a year of promise. The demonic kingdom has worked hard to use these ruts to keep us from walking in our full inheritance.
