Pastors and counselors have a heart to help people and are continually looking for new books/techniques/revelation to help them be more effective. Why would so many ignore deliverance ministry — a “tool” that has been around for centuries that was used, endorsed and taught by Jesus? Deliverance ministry for counselors is liking having another club in the golf bag.
I am frequently amazed at how so few have interest in learning about deliverance ministry. Most don’t properly understand the term (deliverance=the driving out of demons) or simply believe that it is not a necessary ministry for Christians.
They may admit the need for it if one is going to the farthest reaches of foreign or domestic unbelievers who have had little exposure to the gospel. The notion that born again, Holy Spirit-filled believers can benefit from or even need this type of ministry is itself foreign to them.
Deliverance Ministry Can Help Set the Captives Free
Brothers and sisters in the Lord, this should not be! We live in a time when the great deceiver and his hordes have done a masterful job of foisting great deceptions upon mankind. Many in the general populace don’t believe that the demonic realm exists at all or, at best, they have a very unbiblical view.
Witness the orgy of enthusiasm that bubbles up at Halloween, Harry Potter and vampire movies, theme parks and other “fantasy” events where people seem to revel in darkness. If they thought, even for a moment, that what they were glamorizing or patronizing was truly real and truly evil, how many sane people would persist?
In like manner and even more deviously, the demonic realm has been successful in convincing great chunks of the Body of Christ that the ministry of deliverance is no longer necessary. Yes, they will say, Jesus did it and the disciples did too but that the need for that ended.
Let me ask a very simple question. Why would Jesus train the disciples and command His followers to keep doing all that he had been doing (Mark 16:17-19), including driving out demons? People have to go outside of Scripture to fabricate an answer.
Because of this deception, so much of God’s people, the Body of Christ, continue to be bound up in demonic strongholds and bondages. It is only by getting delivered from these spirits that these people can flourish and walk in the fullness of all the Lord has for them. You cannot counsel demons out of people. So many believers go to pastors or Christian counselors for years (or until their faith or money runs out) and see very little lasting fruit because they need deliverance not more admonition.
Golfers use different clubs depending upon the shot situation they face. As pastors, counselors and God’s people in general, shouldn’t we take the same approach when it comes to helping people? We have ministered to thousands of people and seen the power of God move the captives free as demonic spirits are driven out in obedience to the words of Christ and using the power and authority he has given us.
I urge you to explore God’s Word yourself, reassess whatever beliefs or teachings you have had in the area of deliverance ministry and ask the Lord himself to reveal truth to you. I know He will do that. Contact us; we’ll be happy to help!
