In one of my earlier deliverance ministry encounters, I met with a “Mary” , a married mother of two who had been who had been an exotic dancer in the past.
That part of her life had been had been spiritually dark and painful for her and the fruit of that, and other aspects of her life, had led her and her husband came in for marriage counseling.
Although it was years after that phase in her life, we believe that some of the open doors from that activity had been a key entry point for demonic torment.
During the interview session, she confided that over time as a dancer it became extraordinarily difficult to continue dancing in her “right mind”. What had begun as a necessary economic option had morphed into something dark for her. It came to a point where the only way she could get through each “show” was to, in her mind, become the stage person of “Bambi” that she danced under.
When she went up to perform, she convinced herself that it was not her (Mary), but her stage persona who was doing the dancing. It allowed her to dissociate the real “her” from the nature of the person who was involved in this sordid dance for the pleasure of others.
I believe that at some point in this process of dissociating from reality (pills helped this process) that she invited in a demonic personality spirit.
Personality Spirits are Called Disorders in Medicine
There are differing viewpoints in the medical world and even in the Body of Christ about personality spirits. Called “multiples”, “alters” or a “split personality”, the medical profession diagnoses people with certain personality afflictions with the term Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).” We believe that many medical terms with the name “disorder” or “syndrome” are typically spiritually based. In general, medications do not cure the person but simply mask the real problem and help a person to cope.
We are not medical professionals but are NCCA-licensed counselors and we do believe that people can have personality spirits that enter into them. There are different open doors, including severe trauma (such as satanic ritual abuse, ongoing child molestation and more), and repetitive exposure and experience in certain areas (depression, fear, addiction, perversion and more). These are demonic spirits that are often invited in as part of a plea for the traumatized person to be somewhere else or for the trauma to be happening to someone else.
In the case of Mary, we knew she had this spirit because there was a powerful manifestation when we called out a personality spirit of Bambi. She got set free from other spirits as well but that one was very powerful and had been doing its part to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10) in her life.
She would never have been diagnosed as DID but this personality spirit had been active in her life and marriage. I received a wonderful Christmas card and picture from her and it was gratifying to hear how her life had changed.
