Have you ever had someone close to you make a comment that just pushed every one of your buttons all at once? Maybe it’s just a “flesh” issue at times–we are simply tired or hurt or wounded– but often times, at that moment the demonic realm is filling your head with thoughts so you can return the salvo. Isn’t that how it often happens?
The fact demons are salivating in the hope that you will retaliate and open the door for them to work! They throw out a little bait to provoke you so that you will engage that person in a fleshly battle and feed the demonic spirits in operation (for example, anger, bitterness, resentment and retaliation). These spirits will typically launch their attack at something that is very close to your heart in order to get you to defend your position.
In Nehemiah 4, the mockers stood and launched one verbal attack after another at those who were restoring the wall around Jerusalem. They went after their character, their ability and their purpose. They called them feeble, used, and charred stones that no one would ever pick for Gods service. Sound familiar? Spirits love to taunt and mock and bring up your past in order to devalue your future. They know they cannot possess you, so their intention is derail your purpose.
Demonic Spirits Do Warfare In Your Mind
The next time you hear that taunting coming out of a loved one or friend, I suggest you stop and take every thought captive, if you are able! Very likely it is the demonic kingdom that is pressing that person to lash out. Listen closely to what is being said. Realize that the enemy will mix just enough truth in this mess to get your attention. Then ask God for wisdom, clarity, and discernment . Then count to ten and know that the Lord will give you grace to respond in a godly way.
In that time of counting ask God what is causing this attack?
It’s generally one of three things:
- You are weary and vulnerable
- You are up for a promotion or
- You have just received a promotion.
We are in a war, and the battle is over our souls. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us we are not fighting flesh and blood but we are fighting spirits that often operating through people. Take aim at the demonic kingdom, not at the person being used.
If you are not able to resist this temptation and you are continually drawn into to battle, then maybe that is an evidence for needing deliverance from a demonic stronghold. When we know what the Word says, want to move in a godly direction and yet continue without victory then there are often demons behind our “issues”.
Take authority over the purpose God has given you to complete. I am totally convinced that the time is now. God is asking each of us to prepare to cross over into His promises, but in order to do that we need to be able to stand against the wiles of the enemy. Prepare yourself to win this war and get help if you need to. The time is now!
