Isaiah 35:3-4 encourages believers with these words:
“Strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” (NIV)
Weariness is a weapon that the enemy has unleashed on the church to allow a spirit of hopelessness to come in and cause many to simply give up. This past New Year’s Day, I had a dream that addressed this weariness that I would like to share with you.
In this dream Jesus was standing on Christmas morning surrounded by gifts that he had ready to deliver to each one of us. Each gift was beautifully wrapped and had name tags on them. Instead of bows, however, there were tools. Screwdrivers, wrenches, and pliers were attached so that we could open these gifts. His gifts were specific, and He was standing there offering them to each of us. As one woman walked up to receive her gift, she noticed the tool, her expression changed from hope to disappointment. She was tired and weak, and said to Jesus, “I just don’t have it in me anymore Lord”. Then she turned and walked away.
To her it seemed like there was too much warfare to go through to get to that gift. The expression of sorrow on Jesus face, as his children one by one turned and walked away was heartbreaking. He had come to freely give each one of us a gift that would glorify Him, unify us, and strengthen the Body of Christ.
This year, ask God for the gift he has for you. Maybe it’s physical healing, restoration, reconciliation, or a gift of the Spirit. Use the tools of prayer, worship, fasting, studying his word, and deliverance to break open that gift and breakthrough the chains that are causing you to grow weary.
I really believe 2011 is a year to watch in awe the Glory of God! But we need to be positioned and ready. It’s time to sanctify ourselves, make more room for the Holy Spirit, and clean out any spirit of weariness or hopelessness that would cause you to miss what you have been long waiting for. Press in; the time is NOW!
