How can a pastor, friend, family member or anyone else know if a person needs deliverance? In previous articles, we have talked about the fact that deliverance ministry is real and is for today. It is not a “magic bullet” for everything wrong in a person’s life. Put simply, deliverance involves driving/calling demonic spirits out of people just as Jesus did and as He commanded the church to do (Mark 16:17).
In our ministry, we are of the belief that every Christian can potentially benefit from going through an effective deliverance ministry process. We do wrestle against the flesh and are being transformed into the likeness of Christ as we walk with Him. However, often times people just cannot get the victory in certain areas and there are some very specific things that might be a tip-off of the need for deliverance ministry in a person’s life.
Having Trouble Gaining Freedom?
- Are there behaviors that they cannot control?
- Have they had repeated prayer and or counsel with limited lasting success?
- Has the person been crying out to God for freedom and doing everything in their own strength to get victory but not seen the fruit?
If the answer to one or more of these questions is “yes” then I suggest one should be open to receive deliverance ministry. Any one of the above are possible indicators (not evidences or proof) of the need for deliverance ministry. That is what we try to convey to people who come in for counseling or are interested in knowing more about deliverance ministry.
Sometimes people just choose to yield to the longings of the flesh/soulish realm and choose to walk in darkness. Deliverance ministry, like counseling, will not likely be effective in these instances. We have seen many people gain freedom in areas of their because of deliverance after years of counseling or medication. There are not demons behind every problem in our lives but when they are there they need to be dealt with. The reality is that we cannot counsel demons out of people; they must be driven out!
