“God doesn’t seem to hear my prayers!”
“I just can’t understand how another year has passed and I am still waiting for my breakthrough!”
“Why is this taking so long?”
Have you ever spoken those words? Do your prayers seem to be at the bottom of God’s inbox?
Isaiah 59:2 tells us that our sins have caused God to turn his face from us, and He can’t hear us.
Let’s be clear: God was not saying that he loved any of us less, but instead, our sinful choices can cause him to stop listening to our prayers. Those sinful choices rooted in rebellion, conform us to the world and not God’s perfect will.
This example is easier to see when we look a rebellious child. He wants something that needs his parents approval. Love just radiates out of his heart, as he snuggles on his fathers lap preparing to ask the big question. However, this new love plea does not erase yesterdays rebellious actions. His father patiently waits for him to acknowledge his sin and when he doesn’t, he turns a deaf ear to his request. His father longs to bless him, but knows he can’t until he acknowledges his behavior and repents.
What hinders our prayers may be a spirit of rebellion!
With respect to rebellion, my pastor recently said, “Go home and die to what you do not want to do!”
The demonic kingdom will try and convince you that the road of submission is too long and hard. They offer a short-cut lined with rebellion that gets you nowhere, but stuck and out of Gods “listening” range.
5 Steps to Getting Your Prayers Answered and Your Feet Moving Again
- Review any decisions you have made that impact your unanswered prayers. Make a note of conflict area’s where you have refused to submit to what God has asked you to undertake.
- Ask God to show you where you detoured from his path.
- Confess that rebellion.
- Repent for aligning your choice with the enemy’s plan for your future.
- Write out your vision with God and make an action plan to submit your time to God’s plan for your life. Myles Monroe authored a book titled, “The Power of Vision” that will help you get that vision on paper.
We would love to hear from any who see fruit from doing these five simple things.
Of course, if you cannot discern the roots of your unheard prayers, but know that you struggle with submission, further steps, including pastoral counseling, may be necessary. Let us know if we can help!
